Description:The candle filter is an automated filtration device that utilizes candle-shaped filter elements as supports, combined with filter cloth and filter cake layers, to achieve efficient liquid clarification under pump pressure. It allows for flexible selection of filtration materials based on different media and filtration requirements.

Structural Composition

The candle filter primarily consists of a cylinder body, candle filter elements, filter cloth, filter aids, and a PLC automatic control system, supplemented by auxiliary equipment such as air compressors and pumps.

  • Cylinder Body and Filter Element Materials: Stainless steel (304/316/321), carbon steel, titanium, etc.
  • Filter Cloth Materials: PP, PE, PPS, PTFE, nylon fiber, etc.
  • Filtration Aids: Activated carbon, diatomaceous earth. Recommended dosage is 1%–3% of the material volume, adjustable based on process requirements.

Working Principle

The candle filter is a fully enclosed filtration device comprising multiple porous candle-shaped filter elements covered with filter cloth. During filtration, solid particles gradually accumulate on the filter cloth surface, forming a dense filter cake layer. The minimal interstitial space within the filter cake layer effectively traps impurities in the liquid, clarifying the filtrate. Hence, this equipment is also known as a filter cake layer filter.

When the filter cake layer thickens to a certain extent, filtration resistance increases and flow rate decreases. The system automatically initiates a backwash program based on pressure sensor signals to discharge filter residue and remove the old filter cake. Subsequently, a new filter cake layer reforms, entering the next filtration cycle to achieve continuous, efficient, and automated operation.
